Status update

We are happy to say that all orders have been shipped (or will be shipped on Monday as the weekend is not working days). If you don’t already have received a shipment confirmation email, you should receive by Monday. If you still not have received it on Monday, please contact us.

The xGPS and xGPS Util softwares have some known bugs which include:

  • The speed doesn’t get refreshed (or doesn’t work at all in some case). It is a software problem and NOT an hardware one.
  • The software sometimes says that the xGPS Module is disconnected although it is connected. It is also a bug in the software and it is not due to the xGPS Module.

Next week will be holiday week for us. We will still answer to urgent email, but support will be less responsive for a week. Then we will start hardly developing the xGPS software to get something really stable.

For the iGPSD customers, we are currently in touch with this team to make our software working with their cables / products. So keep you updated by reading this blog.

Thank you all for your interest in our project.

Are you guys planning on letting xGPS tallk to a gpsd daemon? I have a gpsd daemon running on my car pc, so it would be trivial then to let the iphone talk to gpsd on there over wifi and create a mapping solution that way without having to create a special cable.

I received xgps few days ago…it is a very good product!!! The only problem is the speed refresh as you said in your entry.
In my opinion in the next release of the software, if it’s possible, in addition with car direction and the correction of the bugs, to make the software more complete, you should also improve the possibility to view the signal strenght and the tracking and a easyer way to manage the map (view and delete the map downloaded directly on the iphone…).

  12. Mathieu Says:

The signal strenght is also planned to be implemented. For the map managing, I don’t think we will do more that the current implementation. We will propose an option to delete all downloaded maps to save memory but that’s all because we are developing a software to precisely download map on a computer.

SparkFun has started selling a gps module for the iPhone. (http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=8796) Will the xGPS software support it?. I think the baud rate for this module is 4800 bps.

    Hi Mathieu!
How many days we have to wait for new release of the software, with drive direction and much more? Good module guy!!!
